CDPHE Hospital-Acquired Infection Measures |
|
House Bill 1045 requires hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, hospital units and dialysis treatment centers to collect data on infections for specific clinical procedures, and regularly report the data to the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) beginning July 31, 2007. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) is the responsible entity to summarize and analyze the data, and will generate semi-annual and annual reports beginning in January 2008.
The Colorado Hospital Report Card will utilize this data and report all hospital-acquired infections. An infection is considered to be hospital-acquired if there is no evidence that the infection was present at the time of admission. Infections that are not found to be hospital-acquired are considered community-acquired, and will not be included in the data for the Colorado Hospital Report Card.
